St. Charles Borromeo celebrated Marty Cameron's 90th birthday with a potluck meal hosted by the choir. Marty has been a member of the church for over 24 years and a choir member for nearly that long.
East Texas Food Bank - September, 2024
Hello everyone, here is an update of our work day at ETFB last Friday .
We worked on boxing up food supplies for seniors over 60 who earn less than $900/month and apply for this monthly program. This month, we boxed up 6 pallets containing 304 boxes altogether in less than 2 hours. Many thanks to all who were able to join us. Thank you, JoAnn and Angela, for bringing the snacks. May Crowning - May 5, 2024
St. Charles held its annual May crowning on May 5 at the 9:00 Mass. Marlena Hurtado crowned the statue of Mary. She is accompanied by her mother, Silvina.
Baptism - April 7, 2024
Two of our young people were received into the church April 7, Divine Mercy Sunday. They are Devon and Ethan Bass. Their mother is Guadalupe Bass. Godparents are Rosa and Eduardo Morales. Congratulations to these young men!

Baptism Prep - February/March 2024
Two of our young parishioners will be baptized at the Easter Vigil. They are Devin and Ethan Bass shown at the Mass of Catechumens on February 18 and at Mass at St. Charles on March 3 when the first Scrutinies were celebrated. Accompanying the boys is their mother, Guadalupe Bass, catechist teachers Deacon Larry and Eileen Gottschalk, Karla Moyer, and Brenda Allen and godparents Rosa and Eduardo Morales.
Palm Burning Ceremony - February 2024
"Do you know where the ashes for ASH WEDNESDAY come from? Our Faith Formation Youth do. February 7, our students prepared and burned the palms that were blessed last year on Palm Sunday. Each child actively participated in the Palm Burning Ceremony. Our hope is to develop a Biblical understanding and connection with Palm Sunday, Ash Wednesday, the 40-days of Lent and Easter. The Ceremony began by addressing the biblical symbol of ashes. Student lectors' read Isaiah 58:5-10, Psalm 51, closed with Father Mark's blessings and students' reflections."

Our 2023 recipients for Outstanding Service to the parish are Anthony Vrba and Jeanne Feger.
Anthony is involved in the Men's Club and the parish food pantry. He also serves as an usher and extraordinary minister of holy communion, along with helping with mowing and doing other handyman chores.

Outstanding Volunteer Awards: Parishes not only live but thrive on the dedicated service of it's parishioners. We honor two of our parishioners with our annual Outstanding Volunteer of the year awards.
This year we recognize Marsha Hayes and Glen Gendron.
Marsha has served as a Catechists for many years. She provides on-going faith formation primarily for our children in Kindergarten and first grade. She is an active member of our Sisters of the Soil maintaining our Marian Garden and flower beds and bushes.
Glen has been our go-to man for so many of our electrical needs. He has wired so much of our buildings, including our new parish sign along the highway and the new food pantry addition and walk-in freezer.
We are grateful to them and so many volunteers throughout our years as the Catholic presence in Frankston.

May 1st 2022 - Crowning Celebration
Our May crowning was held on Sunday, May 1 in the Marian Garden. Maya Avila crowned the image of Mary.

Lupe Orozco Receives Nursing Award - 2021
Lupe Orozco, one of our young parishioners, received her nursing pin from UT Tyler School of Nursing. She was given the Dr. Dorris Professionalism Award. She is pictured with her certificate and with her parents, Antonio and Rosa Orozco. Lupe will be working in the ICU/IMC floor at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital.

St. Charles Service Award - November 6-7, 2021
Sue Owens and Jimmy Johnson were honored as this year's St. Charles Borromeo Service Award recipients at Masses the weekend of November 6-7.
Sue is our parish nurse and worked tirelessly to help parishioners get appointments for covid vaccines. She even drove them to their appointments. She also provides support to any parishioners who are ill in whatever ways she can.
Jimmy is a member of the parish finance council and is chair of the parish columbarium committee. He is active in Men's Club, helps with mowing the lawns, and helps whenever called.
Sue and Jimmy truly exemplify the meaning of being a follower of Jesus Christ.

Parishioners gathered socially for the first time since the pandemic hit. Good food, but more importantly, wonderful fellowship was shared by many who hadn't seen each others in a very, very, VERY long time.

Melany Pizano and Eddy Altamirano graduated with honors and have received multiple scholarships for college. Both will be attending UT Tyler.
Mary Crowning 2021
For many years on the first Sunday in May, one young girl from St. Charles has crowned the statue of the Blessed Virgin with flowers. This year, Clara Long, one of our first communicants, had the honor of crowning the statue. With her are her parents, Amanda and Logan Long, and her sister, Scarlett.

LOSC Gift Exchange and Drive-through

Ladies of St. Charles had a gift exchange after reciting the Chaplet of Divine Mercy on December 1. Then on the 9th, we had a drive through stocking hand out for our children.

This group of women is dedicated to keeping the grounds around the church in beautiful shape. They work in warm and cold weather. Most of the pictures were taken as they prepared the grounds for Christmas.
St. Charles Food Pantry Construction Begins Week of November 16
The food pantry received a grant and donations to increase the size of the food pantry and purchase a walk in freezer. The work on the expansion began the week of November 16, 2020 with Father blessing the grounds and the workers. The work is supposed to finish up in the next two weeks. This last week, they fed 157 families. When we started, we had 35 families to feed!

The service awards are given each year on or near the feast of St. Charles Borromeo, which is November 4. One man and one woman, never husband and wife the same year, are awarded the medal as a way to recognize their contributions to the parish. This is the 8th year for the awards, started by Father Christopher Ruggles. The medal has an image of St. Charles Borromeo on one side. On the other, the recipient's name and year awarded is engraved.
